Holiday Knitting Circle!
Did you finish all of your holiday knitting projects? No?
Well, Danner's has just the thing to help you plan
and complete all of those projects for 2008!
On the 25th of each month beginning this month (January) through November,
Danner's invites you to bring your holiday gift list and work on all of those projects.
That's 11 months to plan and complete every gift on your list!
Don't procrastinate, bring the names of those on your list,
snacks if you want, and start the year out right.
You can come for the entire time or any part of the time.

Knitters! Skein Swap is here!
Bring in full or partial skeins of yarn and swap them out
for other full or partial skeins brought in by other knitters!
Please be sure that you label the skeins you are bringing in with
fiber content (i.e. cotton, wool, acrylic, etc.) and about how
much is remaining (i.e. 3/4, 1/2, 1/4). Swap your skeins!

Knit for Care2!
Danner's Care2 Mission to create knitted/crocheted blankets
to donate to local charities who help to house the homeless of our
community is progressing nicely!
Thanks to the generous efforts of our many knitting and crocheting
friends, we have donated blankets to Take Five Community Outreach,
the Christian Ministries Sleeping Room, and the Wayside Mission.
Students from Burris School are working on sewing together
the last of the squares that have been donated!
Susan Danner, owner of Danner's Yarns, Gifts & Books, explains,
"We wanted to work to help those in need keep warm during the cold of
Spring. This has been a wonderful project and we thank everyone involved."
Susan, her mother Dottie, and her daughter Moth made an appropriately
sized Care2 blanket for Danner's shop cat, His Majesty, Leaf the Cat.
It is in his kittybed that Susan knitted and felted. ;)
We also want to thank former Danner's employee, Cole Farrell, for his
work with the Care2 Mission - we miss you, Cole!

Yarn Spinning Retreat with Janilee Plumber at Danner's - January 2008
Would you like to learn to spin yarn from fiber?
Call Danner's (288-1122) for more information about Spinning Classes!
Our students learned how to spin with a drop spindle, one of the first textile tools!
Once a woman would not be seen without this textile tool.
As Sir Anthony Fitzherbert (1470-1538) wrote,
"No rank is above the use of the spindle, princesses only have them in gilt."
At this Retreat, you will learn how to draft and spin fiber.
The Retreat will include discussions of different fibers,
history of spinning, ethnography of spinning in different cultures,
and the myths that surround the art of turning fiber into thread.
Once you have learned to spin on a drop spindle you can adapt
this method to every other spinning tool in use today.
Janilee Plumber
Janilee Plumber is a graduate student in
the Anthropology Department at Ball State University.
Her thesis is on the technological change from the drop spindle to the great wheel.
She was taught how to spin in a living history museum similar to Conner Prairie.
She has been a hand spinner for over a decade and enjoys passing on this relaxing skill.

the techniques that students will learn in the class.
Students will each have a supply list so that they may
purchase their supplies prior to the first Class.
Students will have homework in the Beyond Beginning Knitting,
Intermediate Knitting and Advanced Knitting Classes.
So, be sure to come in, get your supply list,
and your supplies at Danner's prior to the Class.
If you purchase your supplies at another store,
please add $40.00 to the Class Fee.

We now carry Brown Sheep, Crystal Palace, Lana Grossa, Plymouth,
Elle, Over the Rainbow, and hand-dyed yarns.
We will special order yarn at no extra charge!
We carry Denise Interchangeable Needle Kits and Extender Kits!
These are those wonderful circular needle kits that have the interchangeable needle
sizes (US 5 - US 15) as well as different lengths of cables.
The needle kits are $49.95, and the extender kits are $19.95.
This is a great bargain since individual needles run about $8-$12.

Class fees for Beginning Classes are $25 which includes all materials.
Pre-registration and pre-payment of Class fees is required.
We've had such a huge response to the Classes that they fill up quickly,
